Rooted in his Texas birthplace and his California upbringing, Jess Chavez has always enjoyed expressing his artistic vision thru texture and multi-dimensional space. His handcrafted pieces are usually themed in layered wood with the use of hammered copper, paint, and a generous sprinkling of the “found objects” that make his work so unique.
Mixed-media paintings in acrylic or pen and ink feature his wonderfully abstract yet recognizable style.
Southwest influences are clearly evident in his depictions of Kachinas and Native American styles and regional pueblo cultural influences of New Mexico and Arizona. All of which carry over to his dimensional pieces as well.
Jess’s workshop and home are in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
